When you come to Las Vegas, you have to expect to spend the majority of your time indoors to the fact that it is extremely hot outside in the summer and the majority of the casinos wants to make sure you stay on their property. When you’ll find is that almost everything that happens in Las Vegas happens inside, and aside from red rock canyon which is outside the city, there isn’t much to do as far as outdoor exploration. This is why when people come to Las Vegas they will generally plan a tour of a national park somewhere within driving distance. This can actually be more difficult than you expect due to the fact that driving to national parks is a bit on the cumbersome side because they are relatively far from developed areas. The majority of protected spaces surrounding Las Vegas in different states are around for hours drive from downtown. The closest park is Zion which is about 2 ½ hour’s drive, or death valley which is around the same. Death valley isn’t going to visit and the summertime due to the extreme heat, so most people will choose from a few of the roughly seven national parks hounding states that can be reached within about ½ day drive. The reason there are so many do the fact that Las Vegas is a centralized kind of city, essentially being located in the middle of the Mojave Desert.
