When many people begin researching their vacation trip to Las Vegas, they start seeing advertisements to visit the Grand Canyon while they are here. The tours are generally sold as one-day trips that will transport you from Las Vegas to the scenic Grand Canyon and back again in the same day. This duration of trip seems perfect for people who have limited time, and would like to take a short break from their Las Vegas vacation to visit one of the most iconic and breathtaking areas in the world. Some who take these trips leave feeling disappointed, however, because the Grand Canyon they see does not look like the one they see in the pictures. They also notice that all of the activities that they have heard are available ranging from hiking beautiful trails to helicopter rides and rafting excursions, donkey rides and camping are not available....they do not understand why the experience was so different than they have read or seen videos about. The answer is that they are at the wrong place. There are two very different view points at the Grand Canyon, the South Rim and the West Rim. The West Rim is more desert like, and barren than the South Rim, and generally has little to offer as far as vegetation or animal life. The view is far more brown, and although it is obviously the Grand Canyon, it is simply not as lush and beautiful as the South Rim.
