Touring the Grand Canyon is one of the things that most people around the world would envision themselves doing at least once in their lifetime. The Grand Canyon like any National Park is relatively remote and ultimately is going to be a bit of a distance from any major Metropolitan area. Generally, Las Vegas is considered a better starting point due to the fact that it is already a tourist location of its own. Las Vegas has more for hotels and cheaper flights than Salt Lake City does, and it can also function is a mini vacation on its own. For this reason many people who are planning their trips to Las Vegas will also plan on visiting the Grand Canyon while they were here. The general thought is that if you have come this far to visit Las Vegas you might as well go a little bit of extra distance to visit the Grand Canyon, knocking 2 things off of your bucket list at the same time.

One of the things that you must realize is that there are more than a few areas of the Grand Canyon that are able to be visited. If you want to visit the place that you have seen in books and magazines you are going to want to go to the Grand Canyon S rim, which is the National Park area of the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, there has been a large advertising campaign over the course of the last few years that have drawn tourists to the Grand Canyon W which is not the National Park area but instead is Indian land . It is not as scenic and does not have the same amounts of hiking and other things to do within the region, but it is closer. This is why most people who will be giving advice will say that it is far better to visit the National Park region but it is also better for you to arrange for your driving to be taken care of by a Tour Company that offers tours from Las Vegas. This way you would be able to see the area that you have always wanted to see and won’t have to take care of the drive yourself.
