At a time when people need a way to have some entertainment, it is actually difficult to find a tour the company that is still operational. There’s been several elements that have come into play that had a damaging effect on the national park tour industry, namely the significant reduction in tourism from other countries. As airline flights and travel restrictions have become difficult to navigate, the amount of tourism coming into the United States from other areas in the world has been reduced significantly. This means that the majority of patrons who were booking tours of national parks through many of these services has been reduced to almost none, making it almost impossible to put enough people into a van or bus to make that tour profitable. What’s even worse is that in order to maintain the social distancing that is recommended in order to keep guests safe, these transportation options must be reduced in their size. A typical situation for a van leaving Las Vegas to go to any national park would be a minimum of 12 to 14 people all from different groups brought together into a single tour group. This meant that several groupings of people who have not been traveling together would be brought into a single vehicle for the entire tour. Obviously this is not an optimal experience if you are attempting to keep a 6 foot distance in between each guest. For these reasons, many tour companies have decided that they cannot meet the requirements set forth by the CDC than with regards to keeping people safe, and therefore they have not been able to operate in a commercial capacity providing tours to national parks. At a time when people are seeking methods of entertainment cells outdoors, this is tragic.
We are one of the few tour operators who is still providing national park tours in 2020. And we have gone to great lengths to adhere to the suggestion put forth by the CDC, in as a result we have been cleared to maintain our commercial licensing agreement with the national parks. We clean and sanitize our vehicles before every tour as well as temperature check all guests before they are allowed to enter. There is a social distance mandate in place during tours and we have removed the middle seat to provide ample space between guests. Tour group numbers have been reduced to only four with regards to privatizing that were completely, and other options that allow for self driving have also been put in place. All communal aspects of the tours have been changed to single use private versions, and all camping equipment as well as hotel options have been modified to be solo tents or private room as necessary. We are going out of our way to make sure that our guests remain safe while still enjoying our products, and as a result we have been recognized as being the only one of a handful of tour operators which are still able to provide tours in 2020.
