If you have always wanted to visit the grand canyon but never thought that you could them get their due to the fact that it is located so far from your home, have you ever considered the fact that Las Vegas is located within ½ days drive of the national park? Many smart travelers have begun to understand that Las Vegas is a perfect starting point for many of the tours that you can do to national Parks in the American Southwest. It is a perfect starting point for Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon as well as many other national Parks that are located in the region. If you are going to attempt to see the area that you have probably seen in books and magazines, then you’re going to want to go to the south rim where the national park area is located. There’s another region of the Grand Canyon which has become more popular over the course of the last 10 years due to the fact that it is located closer to Las Vegas starting point then the national park. The south rim is only around 2 hours from Las Vegas and can be visited and returned to the city within one day, but there is not nearly as much to do there and also the area is not as scenic as the national park region. For this reason it is suggested that you arrange a tour that goes to the national park and also has the camping element. You are going to want to be able to spend as much time in the national park as possible do to the fact there is lots to do, so it is a far better bet to spend half a day driving and then the rest of the day exploring. You can camp overnight and then return the next day, giving yourself for more time to experience all the wonders of the Grand Canyon than if you try to do it in a single day.
