Are National Parks Open

There is a great amount of confusion as far as many aspects of entertainment during corona virus pandemic.  This is because things that you used to assume will be open may be closed completely or have specific restrictions in place with regards to how they operate.  In the past, if you want to visit Disneyland you would simply arrange for your travel and hotel with the assumption that Disneyland would be open when you got there.  You would be able to buy tickets at the door and would enjoy yourself in the park without wondering if certain things would be open or not.  The same was true with national Parks, and if you want to visit the grand canyon or Zion you would simply into your car and drive there, pay your admission charge at the gate and spend the day exploring the area.  The majority of research that was done previous to go into a national park would involve which sites would be the ones you would want to see during your time there, or if you didn’t want to do research you can simply arrange for a tour that would leave from a nearby city.  The corona virus pandemic has changed all of this, and made it difficult to know exactly what aspects of your vacation would be able to be executed and what might be completely closed.  It is no longer a good idea to simply decide you are going on a day trip and drive to a national park the way we use to a few years ago.  This is because there are restrictions in national Parks have now come into place that are limiting the things you can do as well as how many people can be there.

National Parks are open in 2021 but will require a pass in order to gain entrance.  A pass you purchase is good for your vehicle and all of the people inside of your vehicle.  This pass must be purchased around three months in advance and is available on the website that is associated with the park you were interested in visiting.  They are available on a first come first serve basis and are issued in the morning a certain time in advance of the day that they can be used.  80% of the passes are sold on the first day of being issued and 20% are reserved for future sales at another time.  If you are not able to secure one of the passes during the initial release, there are more that will come available periodically as people relinquish them, but there is no set schedule for these releases.  You simply must keep refreshing your browser on that park’s website to see if any are available.  It is not a good idea to make any travel plans without securing a pass in advance as there is no admission without the pass.  These passes go quickly due to an extremely high level of interest, but if you cannot get one of your own you can arrange a private tour through our organization.
