One of the most popular tourist destinations on earth is the Grand Canyon. Every year, millions of visitors travel to the remote area of Arizona in order to look out on one of nature’s most impressive miracles. Some people will take pictures, some will get a little more adventurous and partake in some hiking, helicopter tours, mule rides, rafting or potentially just sitting on the rim and looking over the canyon that has been carved over hundreds of thousands of years by the Colorado River. Whatever your reason for wanting to visit the Grand Canyon, or the activities that you want to do when you are there, it is a good idea to make a plan as far as how your trip is going to work. This is why we suggest not only using our tour service, but also leaving from Las Vegas even if you decide to make the drive yourself. Of course, we are going to be able to not only transport you to the area in comfort so that you are rested when you get there, but we are also going to be able to make sure that you get to see all the best sights, experience all of the best things to do, and really get a sense of the area like the locals who have lived there for thousands of years. We want you to have the opportunity to have an adventure, and not just watch the sights through a bus window.
So if you are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon, why should you start your trip in Las Vegas? Thats easy, the Grand Canyon (like all national parks) is quite remote and far from the nearest development area. This is because the federal government makes sure that there is no development not only inside of the park boundaries but also for miles around them, preventing air traffic over the area as well as making it difficult to find hotels and restaurants. The closest city that has the ability to support commercial airline traffic is around four hours drive from the park entrance that we view as more scenic and interesting, and the real destinations that make sense as far as a starting point to begin the journey are Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Las Vegas is a tourist destination of its own right, making it easy to get flights for good prices as well as finding a hotel room fit for any budget. If you do not live in the immediate vicinity, you are going to have to drive or arrange transportation from a major city, and Las Vegas is a better choice than just about everywhere else just for these reasons. Our tours of the Grand Canyon are done as part of larger tours that visit several national parks because t makes sense to minimize the driving time in between adventures by visiting Zion first, then Bryce and Monument Valley before moving on to the Grand Canyon. This way, we are only driving a few hours in between parks and we are able to enjoy several different areas for their beauty, instead of just driving for hours to see the Grand Canyon, then turning around and going home.
